Developers can now download the iOS 8 beta 2. This update comes just two weeks after Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) unveiled its latest mobile operating system at the Worldwide Developers’ Conference.
The latest update for iOS 8
The update, which goes under build number 12A4297e, is available through the over-the-air updates system, but it is also available through the iOS Developer Center. iOS 8 includes features like AirDrop, a peer-to-peer file sharing system that can be used with iOS and Mac. Handoff is another feature that is similar, except for the fact that it lets users start a task on a device then move the task to another device. iPads and Macs can also place or answer phone calls, as well as receive SMS messages via the app. The upgrade also comes with an updated notification center. This makes it easier for users to reply to emails, text messages and more. Apps can also install widgets for the notification center, which gives users more to work with.
Amid the turmoil in the public markets and the staggering macroeconomic environment, it should come as no surprise that the private markets are also struggling. The upgraded iMessage app lets users manage or leave group conversations with ease. The app also supports videos and quick voice messages. The QuickType predictive feature makes it easy for users to type with the virtual keyboard. Then there is iCloud Drive, which is Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s answer to Dropbox. It offers cloud storage and the iCloud Photo Library, making files accessible on every Apple device.
iOS 8 focuses on Health applications
One of the more exciting iOS features involves the Health app. This app takes in data from third-party fitness and health apps. This may or may not be an indication that the rumored iWatch will really appear.
The Beta 2 download includes podcast app preinstall capabilities, the predictive keyboard feature for iPad, and Safari blocks ads from automatically redirecting user to App Store. Numerous bugs were also fixed, including the location bug and the second iTunes bug.
