Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) Design Chief Jony Ive has been seen by many as being one of the company’s rising stars, and at least for a little while, his profile disappeared from Apple’s executive leadership page. Apple Insider spotted the missing profile, which has since been placed back on the page.

Ive’s profile reappears at Apple

The site noted that Jony Ive’s profile did remain active on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s website even after it had been removed from the page. Apple Insider was able to reach the profile using a direct link to it rather than through the executive leadership page. That differs from cases in which other executives’ profiles have disappeared from the company’s page in the past. Their profiles had led to a 404 error, which means that the page couldn’t be found.

Ive was promoted to his leadership role less than a year ago. At that time, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) added software design to his list of responsibilities, which already included hardware design. Ive’s designs became the basis for iOS 7, which looks quite a bit different than its predecessor and was the very first major overhaul since Apple launched the mobile operating system.

Ive remains key influence at Apple

If Ive was to leave Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), it would undoubtedly be seen as a major blow for the company. The Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) executive even appeared on Time‘s 100 most influential people list last April under the Artist category, which also contained names like Steven Spielberg.

He’s certainly one of Apple’s greatest talents, especially since Steve Jobs left. His designs may help keep Apple in step with modern design, although they can only do so much if the cutting edge technology isn’t there to back them up. When the iPhone 6 comes out, we’ll certainly be looking for signs of Ive’s designs in the handset.

  1. Let’s see:
    iMac introduced late 1998
    iPod, late 2001
    iPhone, mid 2007
    iPad, early 2010

So, You’re looking at 3-6 years between major product releases. Sounds like Apple is right on track and innovating quite well.

  2. Sheesh, is this really worth an article? Come on.

  3. So in other word, according to the AAPL critics, Jonny is responsible for all AAPL’s lack of innovation.
