Market & Economic Update
U.S. markets at record high – stocks on the U.S. stock exchange soared on Thursday as the Dow and S&P 500 touched their record high. The Dow Jones industrial average added 122.33 points, or 0.75%, to end at 16,479.88, a record closing high. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index surged 8.70 points, or 0.47%, to finish at 1,842.02, also a record closing high.
European markets at record high – The DAX equity index surged to record highs on Friday complementing the ongoing rally of the European shares. The pan-European FTSEurofirst 300 index rose by 0.5% to 1,306.60 points by 0810 GMT. The euro zone’s blue-chip Euro STOXX 50 index rose by 0.7% to 3,094.32 points while the DAX rose 0.8% to a new record high of 9,565.07 points.
Asian markets up – shares on the Hong Kong stock exchange soared higher for the third straight session on Friday followed by greater benefits on the mainland. The Hang Seng Index ended up 0.3% for the day and 1.9% for the week. The Nikkei added 4.5 points to close at 16,178.94 in its eighth straight day of gains, its longest such run since March.

Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT)
Shares of Textron added 2.21% to $37.00 in the after-hours trading session. The company agreed to acquire Beech Holdings LLC for around $1.4 billion in cash. Textron will purchase all outstanding equity interest in the Beech Holdings LLC, the parent company of Beechcraft.
WPCS International Incorporated (NASDAQ:WPCS)
WPCS International stock added 26.49% to $1.91 in the after-hours trading. The company announced the public release of the beta version of its Windows-based trading platform for Bitcoin traders.
Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR)
Shares of Twitter touched an all-time high of $74.73 during the regular trading session on Thursday. The stock declined 0.08% to $73.25 in after-hours trading.
ANI Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:ANIP)
ANI Pharmaceuticals rose 5.14% to $18.00 in the after-hours trading session. The company stated that it has acquired 31 generic products from Teva Pharmaceuticals by paying $12.5 million in cash and a percentage of future gross profits.
Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)
Amazon stock surged 1.3% in yesterday trading session after the company revealed that it has widened its subscriber base by more than 1 million Amazon Prime members, in the third week of December. The shares declined 0.32% to $403.10 in after-hours trading.
