Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs, Release Date According To New Leak

Updated on

Could the Samsung Galaxy S5 disappoint? According to a new report from ETNews, the next Samsung flagship smartphone may feature a plastic case, 15-megapixel rear camera, Android KitKat 4.4, and 3GB of RAM. These specs are just rumors as nothing has been confirmed yet.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 phone will make its debut sometime next year and many fans are hoping it will feature a metal body instead of plastic. Both the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone and some Android phones feature metal bodies which give the phones a more upscale feel. Even Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s budget iPhones (which feature plastic construction) are not selling as well as the company would like.

Galaxy S5 rumors continue to leak

GottaBeMobile’s Adam Mills offered more insight into Samsung possibilities in a recent blog post:

“As we head into 2014, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) Galaxy S5 rumors are certainly going to start heating up. Last year, Galaxy S4 rumors started sending buyers into a frenzy at the end of the year and from the looks of things, the Galaxy S5 is set to do more of the same. Galaxy S5 rumors continue to leak, teasing consumers with rumors of a high-end camera and a powerful processor and we expect the rumor roller coaster to continue into the new year. Thus far, Galaxy S5 rumors point to a device that will be carrying a 64-bit processor, possibly of the Exynos 6 variety, a 16MP camera sensor with ISOCELL technology for use in low-light environments, a design that could be metal or could be similar to the Galaxy Note 3’s design, and an announcement that falls during the month of January with a release in February. And while nothing is confirmed yet, rumors continue to pour out of Korea.”

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) could start mass production as early as January 2014, which is early considering their usual time frame is March or April.
