Nokia Corporation (NOK) Hints: Next Lumia Smartphone Is About Camera

Updated on

Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) aired a new advertisement for the Lumia in the United Kingdom on Sunday night. The teaser shared shots of the camera flash and aluminum body. These glimpses seem to confirm recent rumors regarding the next Nokia device featuring the 41-megapixel camera with a sensor device developed with Pureview 808.

Nokia Corporation (NOK) Hints: Next Lumia Smartphone Is About Camera

Nokia’s Windows Phone Slimmer Profile

According to Eric Zeman from Information Week, “The camera may have produced fantastic images, but it was enormous and added incredible bulk to the 808. The Lumia 930/Catwalk promises to bring the best of the PureView technology to Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s Windows  line of devices in a much slimmer profile.”

The ad also mentions, “more than your eyes can see,” so it’s a big possibility that the major selling point for this next phone is all about the camera.

The new device will be launched tomorrow at an event in London. Late last April, the Finnish tech giant sent out invitations to the launch. Originally it was speculated that the “hero device” would debut. Steve Elop (Nokia’s chief executive officer) promised investors this “hero device” would arrive during the second quarter in the United States.

The Nokia Lumia 928 will launch in Verizon stores this week.

The 928 device wasn’t launched long after the Asha debut, the latter of which runs the Series 40 operating system. It was a 2G device (also known as 501) with a touchscreen and Fastlane skin which displays the last-used social media apps or tools.

There’s also a possibility that another big launch could be something larger like a phablet. There are rumors that Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) may soon launch a larger smartphone that’s similar to the size of the Samsung Galaxy Note. The report is that the phablet will be part of the Lumia lineup.
