Rumors about the removal of the headphone jack from the upcoming iPhone 7 are still circulating the web. Now a set of leaked images suggests that the Plus version of the iPhone 7 may even get rid of the mute button. NoWhereElse.fr has obtained leaked images of the 5.5-inch device. On Monday, the same publication had released images of the 4.7-inch iPhone 7.

The Plus model may feature a Smart Connector

The images were initially posted on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. If you take a closer look at the pictures, you’d notice that the finish looks rough, which makes some experts question the authenticity of these leaks. Many other leaked images in the past have had the mute button intact on the iPhone 7 Plus. As expected, the above pictures also depict the dual-camera setup.

The leaked photos also depict three holes at the bottom of the back panel. It looks a lot like an iPad-style three-pin Smart Connector for accessories. According to MacRumors, the Smart Connector could be exclusive to the Plus variant of the upcoming iPhone. Accessories from third-party manufacturers have triggered conflicting rumors about the Smart Connector.

The main camera can be seen protruding from the back. Another photo posted by NoWhereElse.fr offers a look at the front panel of the fully assembled iPhone 7 Plus. It features a physical home button instead of a flush touch-sensitive home button. In terms of design, the upcoming iPhones are expected to resemble the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, except for the removal of the headphone jack and the revised antenna bands.

Apple is expected to unveil the next-gen iPhones in September. The new devices are said to feature 32GB of base storage, a faster LTE, an improved A10 processor, waterproofing and dustproofing capabilities. Though there were rumors that the iPhone 7 sales figures may disappoint investors, reports coming out of the supply chain suggest that Apple is planning for a strong upgrade cycle.
