SolarCity Corp, DIRECTV Boost Accessibility To Affordable Solar Panels

SolarCity announced its partnership with DIRECTV to increase the accessibility to affordable solar panels for homeowners in major cities across the United States.

Under the terms of the partnership agreement, technicians who are visiting the homes of DIRECTV customers, will now be able to offer the solar power from SolarCity.

SolarCity is offering $400 special rebate

The customers of DIRECTV in every major city, where SolarCity has business operation will have the opportunity to pay less than their current utility bills.

Customers can take advantage of the clean energy, secure and predictable monthly costs for years offered by SolarCity. The clean energy company said there is no upfront cost for its service including design, installation financing, insurance and monitoring.

SolarCity is celebrating is new partnership with DIRECTV by offering a special rebate of $400 to customers who will sign up to go solar. The special rebate offer will run from March 11-18, and it will be paid upon the installation of the solar panels.

SolarCity installed 1MW solar system at DIRECTV’s broadcast center

SolarCity is expanding its operation into new markets to be able to offer its service to even more customers, and enjoy the benefits of paying lower monthly utility rates. The company recently received $300 million investment from Google for residential solar projects.

The clean energy company installed a one-megawatt solar system on the broadcast center of DIRECTV located in Long Beach, California, which is the energy consuming facility of the satellite TV provider.

According to SolarCity, the ground-mounted solar system is expected to generate sufficient renewable solar electricity. The solar system prevents 15.7 million pounds of carbon dioxides from entering the atmosphere over its lifetime.

The solar energy it produces is equivalent to powering 1,400 typical homes for a year. The carbon dioxide it prevents is equivalent to 1,350 cars off the road or planting 678,000 trees. The solar system is also expected to save almost 73 million gallons of water that should have been consumed to produce electricity from fossil fuel or nuclear sources.

DIRECTV is one of the companies in the industry promoting environmental sustainability. The satellite TV provider aims to reduce its corporate carbon emission by 40% and customer’s carbon emissions by 1 million metric tons per year by 2020.
