Tesla Motors Inc Adding 14 More Superchargers In Asia

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) recently updated a Supercharger map on its website to contain the category ‘Asia.’ In this map, Superchargers that are soon to come are being shown with 14 new units displayed on the map.

Two Superchargers inaugurated in China

Also, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has recently announced two new Supercharger stations in Beijing and Shanghai in China. These initial Chinese Superchargers and their locations were revealed at the Auto China 2014 event. The exact location of the stations is: First Beijing, China / No. 10 Jiaxiangao Road / Beijing, 100015, Second Shanghai Jinqiao, China / 518 No.518 lantian road, jinqiaoPudong district Shanghai. / Shanghai, 201206. Solar canopies and energy storage systems are featured at the superchargers, and all the superchargers in China are believed to have a similar design.

CEO Elon Musk told previously that Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is already working on building Supercharger networks in China, and these units will be solar-powered and have energy storage systems. The Supercharger network will be open on 24 hours, seven days a week.

China is highly dependent on coal for its electricity needs, and this made Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) decide to design such Superchargers in China that run on solar energy and have energy storage systems as supplements.

Tesla opens first Supercharger in West Virginia

In a related development, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), the manufacturer of electric cars, has its first Supercharger station opened in the state of West Virginia at The Highlands. The superchargers are located at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Wheeling along I-70, just off Exit 10. Now, Tesla drivers traveling between Columbus, Pittsburgh, and the east coast will be able to travel more freely because of the support offered by the Superchargers.

Free long distance traveling with the Model S car is enabled due to the presence of these Superchargers at locations between the city centers. Only twenty minutes are needed to recharge the battery to half of its capacity. Model S vehicles of Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) have been powered by these Superchargers with range of over 15 million miles and this has helped save more than 600,000 gallons of gas.

On Tuesday, Tesla shares closed up 2.97% at $190.16.
