Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA) announced on Monday that its China head, Andy Tian, will be leaving the company at the end of the month, says a report from The Wall Street Journal.
Zynga Loses China Regional Head
Mr. Tian played a crucial role in the formation of XPD Media, which was acquired by Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA) in May 2010. Since then Mr. Tian has been with Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA), serving as the regional head.
According to the company, Mr. Tian is leaving to “return to his entrepreneurial roots,” but no further detail has been provided on the matter.
Zynga’s John Yin to Fill In
John Yin, a studio director at Zynga’s China office, will fill the position. Mr. Yin has helped the company in the development of games like “Ayakashi: Ghost Guild” and “War of the Fallen”, among others. In his present role, Mr Yin is responsible for leading product development and operations for Zynga’s global mobile games.
John Yin has worked as an executive producer for Electronic Arts Mobile in Asia. At EA, Mr. Yin looked after mobile game production for Asia Pacific, and has worked on popular games like “Need for Speed”, “Medal of Honor”, and “Command and Conquer”, among others.
Zynga’s Loses Long List of Key Employees
The game maker is witnessing a tough time and has seen the exit of many top level executives.
The most recent departure was of vice president of general management and former chief executive of OMGPOP, Dan Porter. A week before his exit, Porter stated publicly that Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA) copied games from other developers. However, later he issued an apology for the same comment.
In March this year, Debra Chrapaty, Zynga Inc’s CIO, left the company to take a new role in Nirvanix. In January, Dali Kilani, Director of Engineering at Zynga, left the company to take a position as VP of Engineering at Ifeelgoods.
Last Year, Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA) lost many of its key executives. In November, the game lost Mike Gupta, the treasurer of the company, and David Wehner, Chief financial officer. Earlier, chief game designer, Brian Reynolds also left the company for reasons unknown.
The list also includes names like Allan Patmore, General Manager of CityVille; Erik Bethke, General manager Mafia Wars2; Ya-Bing Chu,VP of the Mobile Division; Jeremy Strauser, General Manager, Slots / Bingo Games; Bill Mooney, VP of Studios; Brian Birtwistle, VP of Marketing; Curtis Lee, Director of Product Management; and many others.
