Apple Call-Blocking Feature in iOS 7:

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will bring a new call-blocking feature with the iOS7. The new feature will also allow users to block numbers in FaceTime and Messages. The call blocking feature will facilitate blocking of specific numbers, which will be handy to avoid a call from ex’s or from any other unwanted number.

“Phone, FaceTime and Messages blocking to prevent specific people from being able to contact you,” says an Apple executive.

How it works

The call blocking can be availed by visiting the contact details screen via the Favorites, Recents or Contacts tab. After that, a user has to select ‘Block this Caller’ button at the bottom. Then to remove the contact from the blocked list, user will have navigated to its contact card and then select ‘Unblock this Caller’. The feature has not been made consistent as the feature is not available while browsing contacts directly through the Contacts app. The call-blocking feature will be device specific and not on the carrier side.

The feature lacks a centralized list to view all the blocked contacts. However, it will be useful while unblocking multiple contacts, saving the efforts to browse their individual contact cards.
