Unemployment Falls In 28 States [CHARTS]

During the month of October, 28 states had unemployment rate decreases, 11 states and the District of Columbia had increases, and 11 states had no change, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports.

Puerto Rico continues to have the highest unemployment rate at 14.7% followed by Nevada at 9.3. The lowest jobless rates are in North Dakota at 2.7% and South Dakota at 3.7%.

From a year ago, 38 states had unemployment rate decreases from a year earlier, 10 states and the District of Columbia had increases, and 2 states had no change.

Recall that the national jobless rate in October was 7.3%, down from 7.9% in October 2012.
