The Top 7 Investors In Series C Rounds In The US

Since the beginning of the decade, venture activity in Series C financings has remained relatively flat: VC investors completed 279 deals in 2010 and 302 last year, per the PitchBook Platform, with little variance in between. This year seems set to fall in line with the previous seven, with investors on pace to complete about 295 rounds by the end of December.

Over the past two-and-a-half years, 1,277 VC investors have participated in at least one of the 799 Series C financings completed by companies headquartered in the US, according to PitchBook data. About 42% of those fundings have gone to software companies, by far the most of any industry, followed in frequency by about 10% for healthcare devices & supplies and 9% apiece for pharmaceuticals & biotech and commercial services.
