Allied Nevada Gold Corp. (NYSEMKT:ANV), a gold and silver producer, experienced a major gain today. Its stock price shot up +5.42%, reaching $4.29. In fact, it was a good day for gold overall, up +0.58%. Billionaire John Paulson benefitted from this one. Paulson owns 1.5 million ANV shares (0.07% of his fund), acquired at an average price of $34.10.

Next up on our list of daily gainers is IAMGOLD Corp (NYSE:IAG), another company boosted by gold today. The firm’s stock price climbed +3.90% today to $4.53. Paulson again reaped the benefits here, as he holds 3.8 million IAG shares, representing 0.12% of his portfolio. Unfortunately, he’s got a lot of ground to make up for with this stock, for which he originally paid an average $15.83 (it is currently valued -71.50% below that number).

Number one on our list of daily losers today is Teradata Corporation (NYSE:TDC), a provider of analytic data solutions. The stock dropped to $43.65 (-16.98%) as a result of missed earnings projections. With 441,000 shares, TDC represents 0.24% of George Soros’ portfolio. The billionaire bought 76,000 shares in December 2012 and acquired the rest of his position last quarter. He paid an average per-share price of $63.53.

The second company with a major loss today is Caesars Entertainment Corp (NASDAQ:CZR), which dipped -10.67% and is now trading at $20.00. The entertainment company is part of many billionaires’ funds. John Paulson holds 12.02 million CZR shares, representing 1.16% of his portfolio. Despite today’s drop, the billionaire has gained +55.34% in this position, having paid an average price of $12.88. George Soros has CZR stakes as well. The investor holds 5.9 million shares, corresponding to 0.89% of his holdings, and paid an average of $8.45 per share. Leon Cooperman owns 1.1 million shares (0.25% of his fund), bought at $14.60.

Rounding out our list of daily losers is J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE:JCP). The struggling retailer’s stock price decreased -7.62% today, hitting $7.27. Billionaire George Soros holds 19.9 million JCP shares, representing 3.70% of his holdings. Soros has been losing with this position for quite some time; he paid an average price of $16.66 per share.
