Updated on

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:0059935) has announced yet another high-end camera smartphone, dubbed as the Galaxy K Zoom. This smartphone would be the successor to the Galaxy S4 zoom launched last year, and this would be Samsung’s second attempt at launching a camera specialized smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom tech specs

The Samsung Galaxy K Zoom sports a 20.7 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor with a 10x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization (OIS) to reduce blur during movement. The device features Xenon Flash for better pictures in low light situations, which as per Samsung “provides a brighter light than LEDs”. On the front, it has only a 2 megapixel camera.

The smartphone offers Auto Focus/Auto Expsure (AF/AE) separation for precise balance of light and clarity. The Pro Suggest mode offers 5 optimized filter settings. The Selfie Alarm is basically a timer for capturing a selfie from the front facing camera. Selfies are a trend these days and with this feature, it will be more convenient for users to capture good and timely selfies.

Apart from these camera focused features, the Galaxy K Zoom sports a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED Display with 1280 x 720 resolution, Exynos 5 Hexa SoC with 1.3GHz Quad-Core and 1.7GHz Dual-Core Processor, Mali-T624 GPU, 2GB RAM, 8GB internal memory with support for microSD card (expandable up to 64GB), Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, LTE, A-GPS with GLONASS and NFC. The battery is of 2,430 mAh and the smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, of course with Samsung’s own TouchWiz skin.

For now, there’s no word on pricing and availability. The Galaxy K zoom would be offered in white, charcoal black and electric blue.
