Samsung’s hugely successful smartphone, the Galaxy Grand, has just received a successor. As you might have guessed, Samsung calls it the Galaxy Grand 2 and it brings with it better specs, a large screen size and a new design. Samsung has also added Galaxy Note 3’s stitched faux leather back in this phone, as well.
Galaxy Grand 2 Specs
The Galaxy Grand 2 is a large screen phone, sometimes referred to as a ‘phablet’; however, one of its plus points is that it’s priced less than the Galaxy Note 3. Its specs are upped compared to its predecessor, and it comes with a 5.25-inch HD display. The big screen means more screen real estate area which is perfect for multi window, which enables users to run one application in two windows at the same time. The camera, however, remains the same with 8 megapixels.
The device is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, and comes with an increased 1.5GB of RAM compared to its predecessor which only comes with 1GB of RAM. The 2,600 mAh battery brings up to 10 hours of playback and 17 hours of calls, as per Samsung. This device also features dual-SIM capabilities, as there’s a DUOS tag on the phone.
Other specs include 8GB of internal memory, an external microSD card slot supporting up to 64GB, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and various sensors. The device runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box and also comes preloaded with ChatON, Story Album, S Translator, Samsung Hub, Sound & Shot, S Travel, Group Play and Samsung Link.
Samsung, in a blog post, said, “This evolution of the Galaxy Grand series brings meaningful upgrades to its predecessor including an improved HD viewing experience, enhanced performance, and many other intuitive features.”
At this moment, Samsung has not revealed any information about the availability of this phone and pricing. All we know right now is that the Galaxy Grand 2 will be offered in white, black and pink colors in selected regions.
