PS4 Has Been A Hit Since Launch

Updated on

Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE) (TYO:6758)’s PlayStation 4 has been a hit since its launch. Earlier it was revealed that more than a million units of PS4 were sold in its first 24 hours. Now, Sony says that with its launch in global markets which expands to a total of 32 countries worldwide, the company has sold more than 2.1 million PS4s.

Sony’s Andrew House thanks PS4 fans

Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE) (TYO:6758)’s Andrew House says “It’s an impressive and record-setting accomplishment for our company and for our industry, and we couldn’t have done it without you. I want to personally thank PlayStation fans, both old and new, for your vote of confidence.”

Sony has set a target of selling 5 million PlayStation 4’s by March 2014. It is worth noting that currently the console is still not available in all parts of the world, but the company is hoping to launch it in the rest of the world soon. For example, Japan will need to wait until February 22 for the release of the console in the country.

Microsoft yet to announce Xbox One sales figure

Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE) (TYO:6758)’s biggest rival, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has yet to announce the sales figure of the Xbox One, which was launched a week after the PS4 in the US. The Xbox One too sold one million units on its launch day, just like the PS4.

Right now we’re in the middle of battle between the mighty consoles – it’s Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE) (TYO:6758)’s PlayStation 4 vs. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Xbox One. Since official sales figures of the Xbox One are not known right now, it’s difficult to say who is winning this war of gaming consoles.
