Talisman Energy Climbs on Repsol Acquisition Reports

The oil and gas firm has struggled in 2014, its price falling -57.17% YTD. An acquisition deal would have major implications for billionaire investor Carl Icahn, who as of Q3 holds 76.06 million Talisman Energy Inc. (NYSE:TLM) shares. Ray Dalio is a Talisman Energy shareholder as well.

Nordic American Offshore Ltd (NYSE:NAO) hit midday up +14.26% in the wake of a letter to shareholders from company chairman Herbjorn Hansson. “Our view is that there is no systematic problem in the oil market,” he writes. “Demand remains healthy and is growing. Oversupply of oil is one important issue, but supply can be controlled.” Having picked up a new five-million-share stake in the company in Q3, Leon Cooperman will be keeping a close eye on how this one plays out.

Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE) gained +8.96%, bringing its YTD gain to over +27%. The diversified software company has a 3.1% allocation in Steve Mandel’s public equity portfolio, and it is also a constituent of billionaire-tracking index the iBillionaire Index.

Caesars Entertainment Corp (NASDAQ:CZR) dipped -10.43% as lenders exited talks over restructuring its largest unit. The casino operator has declined -38.16% this year, weighing down the investment portfolios of Leon Cooperman, John Paulson and George Soros.

Walter Energy, Inc. (NYSE:WLT) tumbled -9.95%, coming back down from yesterday’s nearly +18% climb. The Jorge Lemann pick has declined nearly -90% in 2014, including -40.52% over the past month.
