The fundraising highlights several key trends in PE so far this year. For one, it continues to showcase the year’s buoyant fundraising environment, one that’s seen the likes of CVC Capital Partners, Apollo Global Management and more raise 11-figure funds. The news from Partners Group, which is an active secondaries investor, also reinforces the idea that traditional LPs are shifting focus to direct investing rather than passively backing general partners.

Partners Group has already been busy this year when it comes to backing companies. Just this week, the acquired UK business software specialist Civica for just over £1 billion from OMERS Private Equity.
