Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) Lumia 920 Successor Coming In 2013

The report says “the company is planning to switch to an aluminum construction for at least one high-end Lumia Windows Phone planned for release this year.” And, bearing in mind that the best is meant for top-of-the-line models, Lumia 920 successor may be best suited to get the upgrade from polycarbonate to aluminum.

The features and specifications of the new model will be similar to Lumia 920, according to the report. The two other smartphones are due for release in 2013.

One of the most common complaints of Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) is that its Lumia 920 is much thicker and heavier than its competitors. Nokia is looking forward to resolving the issue with its next generation of Smartphones.

Nokia Lumia 920, weighs 185gram, which is relatively heavy compared to 112 and 133 gram of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 5 and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) Galaxy S III, respectively. The Finnish manufacturer seeks to position itself better than the competitors by reducing the weight of the phone.

Lumia 920 features a 4.5-inch IPS screen, with PureMotion HD+ ClearBlack Display and runs on Windows Phone 8 operating system. The device is available only in 32GB version with no microSD card slot, and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM. It sports an 8.7MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, and dual-LED flash on the rear and a 1.3MP snapper in the front. The smartphone is expected to hit Indian shores in January 2013 and cost approximately Rs 35,000 to 40,000.

Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) catwalk may be the official successor of the Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone, which is presently the flagship Windows Phone 8 device in Nokia’s stable.

There is not much information regarding the, Catwalk or its availability, but a prototype is expected to be seen during the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, USA  in few days.
