New Macbook Specs Leaked ahead of WWDC Event

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is holding one of its biggest events of the year today in the form of the World Wide Developer Conference. The most likely outcome of the conference is a renewal of the firm’s line of Macbook lap tops. Specs for the new lines of computers have been leaked this morning.

From the leak it seems the new line of Macbook Airs will come with four gigabytes of RAM standard and offer an upgrade to eight gigabytes. The spec sheets also reveal that the high end Airs will come with a 512 Gigabyte SSD.

The biggest rumour about the upgrade to the Macbook Pro line is a retina upgrade to the screen resolution. That upgrade is still up in the air but the spec sheets seem to suggest they will be available. Since its inclusion in the iPhone and the new iPad earlier this year Retina has become a mark of screen quality on Apple products.

9to5mac.com is also reporting on some rumors of the pricing on the Macbook Pro line. According to that site the price could be as high as $4000 in some countries for the higher end models. That pricing, though not confirmed, may be a confirmation of the higher screen resolution.

A third interesting change is the update of the Mac Pro line of computers designed for the power user. There had been rumours earlier this year that Apple was planning to ditch the line due to slowing sales. That strategy clearly was not adopted at Cupertino.

The new Pro line will feature high end processors of up to twelve cores and up to twelve Gigabytes of RAM. The line will have devotees flocking to buy the upgrade to what has been a neglected part of Apple’s computer line.

The released specs of the Macbook Pros however do indicate that the companies line is changing. It looks like the rumoured extinction of the seventeen inch Macbook is here. There were no specs released for that particular model making it look like there won’ be an upgrade, or any seventeen inchers at Cupertino.

Despite the release of these specs, which have not been all that surprising, customers are still waiting to see the models. One of Apple’s biggest achievements is the love that the firm’s design sensibility inspires in users. We’ll have to wait to see how the look and feel of Apple’s devices has changed.
