Now that the iPhone 5 has been officially announced, it’s time to wait for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s next iOS device – the iPad Mini.
A new video has surfaced online showing a mockup of iPad Mini which comes with 7.85-inch screen. It looks exactly like our previously posted mockups. As it can be observed, it comes with thinner bezels, curved edges, dual cameras and the Lightning connector.
As the iPhone 5 comes with the new Lightning connector, it won’t be a surprise if we can see the same connector in the iPad Mini also.
The mockup shows a small bezel to hold the device but may be that’s because it would be smaller in size and lighter in weight compared to the 9.7-inch iPad.
Previously the reports suggested that iPad Mini will be announced alongside with the iPhone 5 but later on it was reported that iPad Mini will be announced at a separate event sometime in October and the retail launch can be a week after that announcement.
Technically, the iPad Mini can come with a 7.85-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768, a dual-core A5 processor and dual cameras for Facetime. It can be priced between $199-$299 for the entry model.
Devices like Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD have started the war to capture the 7-inch tablet market. These are small, portable but powerful devices and the best part is that they are affordable. As we know, the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) Nexus 7 comes at a price point of $199 and it has received very good reviews on top technology blogs. We’re sure that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) would also like to get their share in this new 7-inch tablet market. But will Apple be able to price it affordably? Let’s wait and watch!
