Motorola Unveils Droid Razr HD, Razr Maxx, and Razr M

Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc (NYSE:MMI) is high-stepping into the smartphone market with two new mobile phones belonging to its flagship RAZR series. The juiciest bit in the Motorola event today was the announcement of DROID RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD, both support a huge 4.7 ‘ screen. The new smartphones were introduced in a shared event, hosted by both Verizon Wireless (NYSE:V) and Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc (NYSE:MMI). The speculations on the specs of these new phones have been making rounds for sometime now.

The DROID RAZR HD supports some handsome hardware specs. It is furnished with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon1.5 GHz dual core CPU, 1 GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, and a microSD card with upto 32 GB storage. The device is a 4th generation LTE enabled phone. The HD screen has a cool resolution of 1280×720 pixels, with the Gorilla Glass protection.The phone supports an 8MP camera, as opposed to the rumors of 13MP. The DROID RAZR HD comes with a 2,500mAh  battery with 16 hours of continuous talk time. The MAXX version has a more capable battery life, with a talk time of upto 21 hours, can stream music upto 27 hours, and the video streaming capability is above 10 hours.

DROID RAZR HD runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has the Google Chrome browser preinstalled. The device will soon get an upgrade to the latest 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The other phone launched in the NYC event was the RAZR M, and the product will cater to the low end market, as it is cheaper than its counterpart, the RAZR HD. The screen will be slightly shorter at 4.3 inches. The display is called qHD and the resolution is 960×540. Forget about the smaller screen and lower resolution, the RAZR M comes with the latest Android update, the Jelly Bean.

The RAZR devices are known for their sleek, cutting edge design. The announcement of these phones follows the launch of Nokia’s WP8 launches, aka Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 smartphones.
