Microsoft Confirms Windows 8.1 Public Preview Release Date

Julie Larson-Green, Corporate Vice President for Windows spoke at the Wired Business Conference on Tuesday, and confirmed that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will release a developer preview of Windows 8.1., which would be codenamed as Windows Blue at the end of July. According to her, this release will be available at the company’s Build Developer conference.

We have seen and heard many rumors on Windows 8.1, and it seems that everybody is asking the same question: When will we get more information on this so called Windows Blue, and will Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) bring the Start Menu back?

This Build conference is set to take place between June 26th and 28th, and is primarily aimed at software developers, similar to Apple’s WWDC. This event is a great platform for the company to share more details on Windows 8.1.

The recent leaked builds of Windows 8.1 suggest a number of changes, such as an improved Start Screen, and more customization options for colors and themes. More options were added to the Metro interface, so that users don’t need to access the desktop interface. But all this information is just based on the leaked builds, so nothing’s official.

As we know, Windows 8 has more touch-focused interface, and many users don’t like this interface. What many people don’t like about Windows 8 is that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has focused more on touch devices, rather than the traditional desktop users. Is Windows 8 yet another Windows Vista for Microsoft? Well, at least that’s what some people think.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has sold more than 100 million Windows 8 licenses. While the statistics are great, the OS has received a lot of criticism from people around the world.

So, are you excited to see the Windows Blue in June? Do you think it would be a game changer? Let us know your opinion in the comments section.
