Apple’s flagship phone – the iPhone 5S and low-cost version iPhone 5C – are going to be announced next week, but rumors are something that aren’t going to stop until and unless Apple announces them officially. So while we wait for the event with fingers crossed, let’s take a look at Apple’s new fingerprint sensor that will be embedded in the iPhone 5S. If we’re right, then the low cost version of the iPhone won’t come with any such fingerprint sensor.
We’ve previously seen Sonny Dickson posting many leaks on his website, and this time he has posted high quality photos of the home button. Perhaps this is the first time that we’re seeing the home button in such clear images, which means instead of pure rumors without any evidence, we now have something to rely on.
Dickson claims that these are the photos of the iPhone 5S’s home button. What’s notable though is that the sensors and flex cable bear a remarkably different design when compared to the iPhone 5 home button. Nor do these resemble to the previous iPhone 5S part leaks.
While the design differences have yet to be technically assessed, they could have a whole lot to do with the rumored biometric fingerprint scanner that numerous pundits and analysts have predicted.
With this new leaked part, Apple will be adding an extra layer of security to their flagship phone. Plus until now, numerous sources have confirmed that the iPhone 5S will come with the fingerprint sensor. But what isn’t clear right now is will Apple allow other third-party apps to use this sensor, or will it be limited to Apple?
We’ll need to wait until the September 10th event to find out. Until then, check out our complete coverage of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
