Greylock Partners has unveiled Josh McFarland as the firm’s newest partner. He’s slated to start next quarter. McFarland is currently a VP of product at Twitter, where he has worked for a year and a half since the social network acquired TellApart, a predictive marketing startup McFarland co-founded.

The hire culminates a pursuit that began when Greylock was looking to add to its team during 2008. At the time, Greylock partner James Slavet was prepared to make McFarland an offer, but McFarland informed the firm he wanted to found a company. So instead of hiring McFarland, Greylock provided funding to his startup, which turned into TellApart.

The news continues an ongoing exodus from Twitter, coming one day after the announced departure of CTO Adam Messinger after five years with the company. But Twitter has also been making additions to offset the personnel losses. Earlier this month, for instance, the company acquired Yes in order to bring aboard CEO Keith Coleman as a VP of product.
