On Friday afternoon, Google+ shared a brief post with their followers on their official page, which reminded them that they can see images and other content from their friends via Google+ on their search results.

Google Enhances Search Engine With Google+ Results

Here is the message Google’ shared: “When you’re signed in to Google.com in English and searching Google Images, you may see results and content that your friends have shared with you. For example, during a signed-in image search for [lake tahoe], you can click “Personal” under “All Results” on the left-hand side and filter results to show only Lake Tahoe images posted from people in your circles on Google+. Click on one of the images–say, a picture your friend took of the hotel she stayed at, that you’re interested in as well–and you’ll be sent to the post or album where it was published in Google+. “

Although Google+ isn’t as nearly as popular as social media giants Facebook or Twitter, they have a few important things their competitors don’t have. Google+ is really just a part of the Google empire/network, which is essentially a major part of the Internet experience.  In addition to GP, Google also has YouTube, Google Talk, Blogger, and Picasa. All these websites add value to the entire Google experience, things that neither Facebook nor Twitter can provide for their users.

I know this report is nothing new, but it’s good to be reminded that Google has incorporated social media into search results. Social media has changed the way people live their lives and search for information, and applying these tools to their search engine offers a richer web experience.  This feature makes it so much easier for people to find restaurant reviews, images that matter, job connections, and more. It also makes the whole search experience more personal and customized.
