Galaxy S6 Tipped To Sport 4GB RAM, Dual-Edge Display

Updated on

Samsung is leaving no stone unturned to make the Galaxy S6 a beast that consumers would crave for. The Korean electronics leader needs such a device at this point as its profits fell to three-year low amid rising competition from the iPhone 6 and Asian Android vendors. Now a new report from South Korea claims that the Galaxy S6 will arrive with 4GB RAM.

Analyst report claims 4GB RAM

Korean website KBench.com‘s claim is based on an analyst report from Korea Investment & Securities. So far, all the reports have pointed to 3GB RAM. GSM Arena says Samsung could launch the Galaxy S6 will 3GB as well as 4GB RAM depending on the hardware configuration of its different models. Samsung is expected to launch the successor to Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in early March.

Separately, a new report from SamMobile confirms that Samsung will launch a special variant of the Galaxy S6 with a curved-edge like display on both sides. It will be a step forward from the Galaxy Note Edge, which has a curved display only on one side. The Galaxy S6 Edge has been rumored for months. The dual-edge Galaxy S6 is tipped to feature the model number SM-G925.

Galaxy S6 Edge’s panel system to be similar to Galaxy Note Edge

SamMobile adds that the S6 Edge will use the same panel-based system for its side panels as the Galaxy Note Edge. That means you will be able to quickly glance at Yahoo news, finance and sports panels, pedometer panel (powered by S Health), briefing panels, favorite apps, and contacts panels. You will also be able to download additional apps from Samsung’s app store. The Galaxy S6 Edge will also sport features like Express Me and Night Clock.

Possibility of the S6 Edge variant was first reported late last year by IHD Technology analyst Jerry Kang. Kang had learned from sources that Samsung’s display unit was gearing up to manufacture a display capable of wrapping around both sides of the phone. Rumored specs of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge include 5.5-inch QHD display, 20-megapixel main camera, 5MP front camera, Android Lollipop, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 or Exynos 7420 processor.
