Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) has started shipping its phablet Galaxy Note 4. Now all eyes are on Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, most likely the Galaxy S6. Samsung’s biggest rival Apple has shattered all sales records with its new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Meanwhile, Samsung is facing stiff competition from Asian rivals such as Xiaomi and Micromax in the budget segment. The Korean company’s profits are dwindling. So, it needs a real winner to check the decline in its sales.

Will Galaxy S6 be that trump card? Only time will tell. But consumers are already looking forward to it. In fact, they have huge expectations from the phone. Samsung is known to have included the newest and best features and specs in its smartphones. With every new Galaxy S device, the Korean company has tried to outsmart Apple’s latest iPhones. So, we can fairly assume that the Galaxy S6 will be as good as the iPhone 6 Plus, maybe even better.

Galaxy S6 to feature at least 20MP camera

The Galaxy S5 sports a 1920 x 1080 pixel display, and the newest Galaxy Note 4 comes with 2560 x 1440 QHD display. The Galaxy S6 isn’t arriving anytime soon. And reports suggest that Samsung is working on a 4K smartphone display that may arrive next year. So, the 4K display is not beyond its realm. Even if the 4K technology gets delayed, Galaxy S6 should at least get a 2560 x 1440 QHD display.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 display was named “the best smartphone display ever” by DisplayMate. The Korean company is unlikely to compromise on this front with Galaxy S6. Fans expect the Galaxy S6 to feature no less than a 20MP camera, especially as Sony has been raising the bar in terms of camera quality.

Samsung won’t skimp on the processor with Galaxy S6

In terms of hardware, the company will finally ditch the much-maligned plastic casing with the galaxy S6. In recent months, Samsung has launched Galaxy Alpha with metal chassis. The Galaxy Note 4 also comes with metal casing. It marks a strategic shift from plastic to metal body as Samsung tries to maintain the premium feel of its high-end smartphones.

Galaxy S6 is rumored to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, which has eight cores and 64-bit architecture. The Korean electronics giant won’t skimp on the processor in its next high-end smartphone. Snapdragon 810 supports 4K video streaming and 3D gaming. As for the release date, Samsung launches its new Galaxy S line phones around the Mobile World Congress. Assuming the company maintains its product cycle, the Galaxy S6 should be announced in March 2015.
