Galaxy Note II Reported To Feature More Narrow Body and 5.5" Screen

We’ve got some new details regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note II.  It’s rumored that this tablet-style smartphone will feature a 5.5 inch AMOLED screen, 8MP camera with a better sensor, 2GB of RAM, dual-core ARM-15 processor, and a new Exynos 5250 chipset. An insider has sent GSM Arena a confirmation that the rumor regarding the 5.5 inch screen is true.  The rest of the specs have yet to be confirmed.

It was initially reported that this phone was supposed to be released in October but Samsung upped the date to September, most likely to compete head-on with Apple which is rumored to release iPhone 5 in September.  Just a few weeks ago, Samsung released another popular Android smartphone Galaxy S III.  It sounds like the cell phone market is gearing up for a big season ahead just in time for the holiday season.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II is expected to be a big iPhone competitor although it’s hard to imagine any phone competing with the standard in smartphones. Apple’s sixth generation smartphone has yet to be introduced but there have been plenty of rumors regarding the design and style of the upcoming model. The most recent speculation suggests that iPhone 5 will feature four-inch retina display, A5X chip, 4G LTE technology, 8 megapixel camera in the back,  2 megapixel camera in the front, 1GB RAM, Near Field Communication, Siri application upgrade, and better battery life.

The smartphone market is currently saturated with hundreds of similar phones but only a handful of them make a real impact in sales.  Judging by the original Galaxy Note, it’s a safe bet to assume their next generation phone will sell well.  I’m not sure if Samsung will ever quite replace Apple as a leader in smartphone sales but I’m positive that their phones provide a real alternative.
