Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) in late 2003, making it just about six months shy of its tenth Birthday. Some of the highlights since then: the website’s first launch in February 2004, its growth to four separate Universities in March 2004, 150,000 users milestone June of the same year.
The infographic gives reader a feel of the social network’s rapid growth. By December of 2004, the website had reached the 100 million users milestone. The company received its first outside investment in 2005, and the site was first offered to high school students in that same year. By 2006, the company expanded the service to anyone over 13.
The company set up international headquarters in 2008, and the company was valued at as much as $5 billion by then, just five years after it came into being in a Harvard dorm room. Today the firm is worth almost $65 billion. Facebook’s growth rate has slowed slightly, but there’s only so many people to go around. The company has more than 1 billion users in 2013.
