Facebook Plans To Add Video Ads To News Feed In 2013 [REPORT]

According to a report, Facebook is planning to bring full video ads to users News Feeds in the first half of next year. Several industry executives report that this new move by Facebook is aimed at attracting big ad dollars from TV budget.

Facebook has not decided about the product features. By April, the social network will offer video advertisers the chance to target video ads at large numbers of users, according to Ad Age. While the final decisions have not been made concerning this new addition, Facebook is planning to sell video ads in user’s News Feeds on both the platforms – web and mobile apps.

The desktop version of video ads can grab user’s attention by expanding out from the News Feeds to fit in both right and left columns of the screen. But the annoying part doesn’t stops here, the video ads will start playing automatically. Facebook is yet to decide whether the audio should be activated automatically or only if the user wishes to. Facebook won’t leave its mobile apps behind, the ads will be able to stand out on mobile apps too.

With this report, it’s clear that Facebook’s video ads are not just a rumour and if this comes true in 2013, expect one more distraction on Facebook, but this time, in the form of videos that will start auto-playing itself without any user intervention.
