Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is going to modify its News Feeds that it introduced in 2006 by launching new ways to filter it, beginning tomorrow.
Techcrunch reported that there will be multiple modified newsfeeds will be based on categories, such as Instagram photos and music your friends are listening to and artist updates. This includes image ads on both the desktop and mobile sites.
According to Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), at the top, beneath the search bar, there will multiple Feed options. There will be a Photo Feed, showing Facebook and Instagram photos, and a Music Feed, displaying what people are listing to, what concerts they’re attending, and more.
A member of the social ads industry, a Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) employee and several developers revealed that multiple feeds and larger images in posts by users, Pages, and ads are what’s in store for Thursday.
“As our news feed design evolves to show richer kinds of stories, it opens up new opportunities to offer different kinds of ads as well” said Mark Zuckerberg on the Q4 earnings call.
“Advertisers want really rich things like big pictures or videos, and we haven’t provided those things historically. But one of the things that we’ve done in the last year, as you’ve seen, the organic News Feed product that consumers use are moving towards bigger pictures, richer media, and I think you will continue to see it go in that direction. And then, I think a lot of the success of products like Instagram is because of that. It’s very immersive even on a small screen, it’s a wonderful photo product, and when you have those form factors for the content that gives you the ability to offer those form factors for advertising as well”
