Evernote Partners With Deutsche Telekom

Evernote, a company that develops apps that allows users to remember everything, communicate effectively and complete their work using mobile devices announced its partnership with Deutsche Telekom AG (FRA:DTE) (PINK:DTEGY) (ETR:DTE) to provide a free premium service for 18 months.

According to the company, the 60 million mobile, broadband and fixed-line subscribers of Deutsche Telekom AG (FRA:DTE) (PINK:DTEGY) (ETR:DTE) will be able to  upgrade to Evernote premium service for free and test the product until September 25, 2014.

The offer allows subscribers to save an annual fee of $52 or €40 to access offline notebooks supersized uploads, added securities and other features. Evernote has also existing partnership with telecommunications carriers in other countries incluiding NTT Docomo in Japan, Orange in France, and KT in Korea, Taiwan Mobile, and Docomo Pacific.

“We’re excited to announce our new partnership with Deutsche Telekom in Germany, which marks a major milestone for Evernote. Through this partnership, nearly 60 million Deutsche Telekom mobile, broadband and fixed-line customers in Germany will be eligible to receive 1-year of Evernote Premium,” Evernote’s Mie Yaginuma wrote in a blog.

According to Yaginuma, Deutsche Telekom AG (FRA:DTE) (PINK:DTEGY) (ETR:DTE)’s customers must visit the link www.telekom.de/evernote and request an upgrade for the Evernote premium service. Consumers could also launch the latest version of Evernote on their Android mobile devices. In addition, subscribers who already have Evernote premium may extend their current subscription using the same link.

Evernote and Deutsche Telekom AG (FRA:DTE) (PINK:DTEGY) (ETR:DTE) will also host a Hackathon in Berlin, April 5-7, which will be held at the telecommunication carrier’s Winterfeldstrasse start-up space. The event intends to encourage developers and designers to create new apps using Evernote’s API and Deutsche Telekom’s Developer Garden.

Evernote’s major investors include Meritech Capital, CBC Capital, Sequioa Capitalm Morgenthaler Ventures and Docomo Capital. The expanded its business operations in 26 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Iceland among others.

Early this month, Evernote’s site was hacked. According to the company, “Evernote’s Operations & Security team has discovered and blocked suspicious activity on the Evernote network that appears to have been a coordinated attempt to access secure areas of the Evernote Service.”

 Its more than 50 million users were advised to reset their passwords to access their accounts.  The company assured its users that the hackers did no access any of their contents or payment information.
