If you are a Dropbox user running Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT (for tablets), then this is good news for you. Dropbox has finally launched a Dropbox app for Windows 8, which will allow you to access files right from the Start Screen.

The app is designed with the familiar Windows 8 manner; it displays tiles of files and folders stored in your Dropbox account. The app is also touch-friendly, which means you can swipe and tap your way around to navigate and view files.

You can use the Search Charm to search for files by name and extension. You can also right-click on a file and then from the Share Charm, you can share it with your friends and family.

There’s no way to view your locally stored files or upload new files to Dropbox from your PC or tablet. For this reason, the app is very limited in terms of what it offers. It is expected that future versions will offer the full Dropbox functionality. There’s no comparison between this app and the classic desktop version, but it doesn’t mean that you should not try it. If you’re running on Windows 8 and are a Dropbox user, try out this app from the Windows Store.
