Delta Holiday Travel Hike a Help for Tepper, Robertson

Today’s midday gainers are Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD), MakeMyTrip Limited (NASDAQ:MMYT), Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) and midday losers are Ctrip.com International, Ltd. (NASDAQ:CTRP), Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S), Molycorp, Inc. (NYSE:MCP).

Tepper and Robertson get a big boast with Delta

Today’s midday gainer is Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD), which shot up +8.73% to $5.48. As of September, David Einhorn holds 16.1 million shares (1.37% of his fund), acquired for an average $2.43 each. Another investor with a position in RAD is Ray Dalio, who bought 96,000 shares for $3.84 last quarter.

The second stock on our midday gainers list is MakeMyTrip Limited (NASDAQ:MMYT). The online travel company climbed +6.26% to $21.06. Tiger Global Management holds 7.1 million shares, representing 1.79% of its portfolio. The fund run by Chase Coleman paid an average price of $29.51 per share.

Delta Air Lines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) seems to be closing out the week well, too. The airliner is up +5.92% to $29.34 after reporting solid gains in its December traffic. This is a nice bit of news for David Tepper, who holds 8,4 million shares (3.15% of his fund). The investor paid an average price of $10.31 per asset. Julian Robertson has DAL stakes as well. He picked up 863,000 shares (3.12% of his holdings) for $21.21 last quarter.

Midday Losers

Topping off our midday losers list is Ctrip.com International, Ltd. (NASDAQ:CTRP). The travel firm dipped -8.12% to $45.40. Over the last quarter, George Soros picked up 50,000 shares, now composing 0.03% of his fund, for $44.36 per asset.

Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) also took a hit today. The tech company dropped -5.96% to $9.78 after being downgraded to “sell” by Stifel Nicolaus. Leon Cooperman holds 35.2 million shares (3.32% of his holdings), and John Paulson holds 56.6 million shares (2.27%).

Last up is Molycorp, Inc. (NYSE:MCP). The supplier of rare earth materials was down -5.88% to $5.92. This was another dig for Soros, who bought 2.2 million shares for $6.81 last quarter. This position represents 0.16% of billionaire’s fund.
