Apple TV Expected To Launch At The End Of This Year

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fans may get the iTV they want for Christmas after all. New reports are suggesting that Apple TV may come out sometime during the fourth quarter of 2012. This contradicts previous reports that claimed the TV wouldn’t arrive until 2013 or 2014.

Topeka Capital’s Brian White relayed one report from a Chinese news source that claimed Hon Hai (manufacturing partner for Apple)  would receive shipments of LCD panels sometime during the third quarter of this year. He also stated that although the iTV was slated for a release later this year, they would still need to monitor the progress because things can change.

Apple’s TV is expected to be an HDTV that will run on iOS that allows third party vendors to create web applications specifically for the TV and Siri voice controls.  It sounds like Apple is ready to change the way we watch television much like how they changed cell phones and computers.

Brian White also said in his note that Apple could earn $10 billion in revenue alone if they can capture just two percent of the LCD TV market.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been in the headlines for several months now thanks to the many rumors and speculations about various products including the iPhone 5, which has yet to be announced.  Last week, Apple held their Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco but there was nothing mentioned that would officially answer the rumors. Some of the highlights that were discussed at this year’s WWDC included iOS 6, Facebook integration, and Apple’s three-dimensional maps application that is intended to replace Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) maps.

If Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was to release their HDTV this fall, it would be a boon for Apple fans everywhere, especially since they’re expected the launch the iPhone 5 around the same time! It looks like we might have a very Apple holiday season this year.
