Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) released its newest smartphones earlier today. The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c are impressive phones, but they really didn’t give the market what it wanted. Apple isn’t a market-oriented company, however—it is consumer facing—and there’s going to be huge demand for the new iPhone models.

Despite the higher-than-expected price, the iPhone 5c will allow users to get their hands on a new iPhone for a much lower price than they could any year before. The iPhone 5c might be inexpensive enough to bring a new group of people into the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) ecosystem.

iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c pricing

The iPhone 5c will cost $99 for a 16GB model and $199 for a 32GB model on a two year contract. In the United States, those contracts are likely to be offered by Sprint, AT&T and Verizon. T-Mobile, and as usual, will probably devise its own pricing structure if it gets its hands on the phone any time soon.

The iPhone 5s will also be available to customers unlocked from the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) store. Unlocked models will set the user back $549 according to today’s presentation. The iPhone 5s is going to cost users $649 unlocked, the same as the iPhone 5 currently costs without a contract.

The iPhone 5s will still be available for less on a carrier plan, and those plans will follow the same pricing as previous premium level iPhones did in the past. The smartphone can be gotten from Sprint, Verzon and AT&T for $199, $299 and $399 with a two-year contract.

iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c specs

This year was certainly the year of color at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). The iPhone 5s will not be black or white—the phone will be silver, gold, and space-grey. The iPhone 5c, on the other hand, will come in a wide array of bright colors: blue, green, pink, yellow, and white.

The iPhone 5s has a new A7 chip with 64-bit architecture. The iPhone 5c uses the internals of the iPhone 5. It has a 32-bit A6 chip. Both phones have 8 megapixel cameras, but the iPhone 5s camera shoots 1080p and has a wide array of newer features stemming from its new A7 processor.

Battery life hasn’t changed much this time around, but it’s impressive to see that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has managed to preserve the battery life of the iPhone 5s while boosting the internals by so much. Both phones can be expected to last about 10 hours of talk time with 3G on, while the iPhone 5s manages 250 hours of standby time.

The iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5s will both contain a chip allowing LTE 4G, just like the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5c is billed as being compatible with more LTE networks than any other smartphone in the world. We might see what that means for China Mobile some time later this year.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) are sticking to their guns on the iPhone screen, which is one of the most widely disliked features of the product. The smart phone has one of the best-looking screens around, but it’s tiny compared to those on competitors phones. Both the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c have 4-inch IPS LCD screens with 1,136×640 resolution and pixel density of 326 ppi.

Last but certainly not least, the only really big change that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) made today was the introduction of the fingerprint reader on the iPhone 5s. The reader will be used to unlock a users phone, and to buy products off of iTunes for now.
