Apple Inc. (AAPL) iOS 7 May Support Flickr And Vimeo

How it will be helpful

It will be a good move from the Cupertino based company as it already shares a cordial relationship with Flickr’s owner Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO). And integrating Vimeo into iOS will further strengthen Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s objective of reducing dependence on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s Youtube service. Though Apple still allows direct video uploads to YouTube from its camera app, but with the addition of Vimeo users will get an extra option for video downloads.

Like with Yahoo, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) also enjoys an existing relationship with Vimeo, as it earlier integrated the app with the service in OS X Mountain Lion.

Apple’s OS X Already Has Flickr And Vimeo

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) already has Flickr and Vimeo on its OS X desktop platform, so integrating with iOS 7, was the next logical step

One major advantage Android has over iOS is the wide network of integration with any service or app, which makes it a lot easier for users to share the content anywhere. With integration to gain Flickr and Vimeo, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) surely wants to reduce the gap between iOS and Android.

Facebook and Twitter are already present in iOS, facilitating users to log in to their social media accounts through Settings menu. If the news of Flickr and Vimeo is true, it will be alot easier for users to use their favorite device to upload images and videos.

Yahoo will also gain

Just a few days back, Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) came up with a redesigned Flicker having more storage capacity. The integration to iOS could also be beneficial for Yahoo’s Flickr service as it will gain more number of users who will start using its services from their iPhone and other devices.

However, there are chances that in case a feature is not fully tested “prior to the announcement” the launch may be delayed to the conference place in San Francisco next month.

Not much information is available publicly on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iOS 7, but the new operating system is expected to get a re-design as the software development group now has a new head in the form of Jony Ive.
