According to The Street, the surge is the result of a tender offer from China Gold Stone Mining Development. The Chinese mining company opened a cash tender offer for all common Allied Nevada shares and related stock purchase rights. China Gold Stone will pay $7.50 in cash for each share of the Nevada-based gold producer. The tender offer will expire midnight on January 24th. This comes as a nice bit of news for John Paulson, who owns 1.5 million Allied Nevada shares (0.04% of his portfolio).
