Add a Compass to Your iPhone with DirectionBar

Updated on

Smartphones have replaced many things – for example, some people have stopped wearing wrist watch and they look for time on their phones. This might seem strange at first, but this has really happened. Likewise, these modern days, you don’t need to carry a compass anymore, all you need is a smartphone. If you happen to frequently use a compass, then you must have installed the compass app on your iOS device, but then you’ll need to launch the app every time.

To solve this problem, get introduced to DirectionBar, a Cydia tweak that adds a compass to the status bar of your iOS device. It may at first seem to be difficult to view the compass icon, because of the small size but this is not actually the case. The icon is indeed displayed in a very crisp and clear way as you can see in the below screenshot.

After installing the tweak, head over to the Settings application and tap on the DirectionBar preferences pane to configure options.

DirectionBar also allows you to change the theme to suit your needs and taste. There are nine icons that come by default with this tweak, and you can choose any one of them that suits your taste. If you’re into Photoshop or any other image editing program, then you can create your very own icon too.

Once you make any changes in the preferences, you will need to respring to save your changes.

If you don’t mind this icon to take a small space on your status bar, then this is worth it. Also it looks really native, as if Apple has implemented this feature on your iDevice.

To install this jailbreak tweak, head over to the Cydia’s ModMyi repository and get it for free for your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
