Ramani, former VP of engineering at Twitter, has joined the health intelligence platform as its chief engineering officer. The year is shaping up to be a strong one for US VC activity in the healthtech industry, with 177 completed deals and capital invested totaling just under $2.5 billion so far in 2017, according to PitchBook data. Since the beginning of 2012, roughly 1,200 VC investors have participated in 1,273 deals in the sector. A majority of the capital invested, 57%, has gone toward late-stage deals.
