Like with every hit show, this show also has some hidden but fascinating facts. One of the most important facts about this super-popular series is that its original name was not Friends. In the early 1990s, the co-creators initially titled it Insomnia Café. Along with the title, the plot was also a bit different, for example, instead of Ross and Rachel, Joey and Monica were supposed to be the key relationship.

After NBC purchased the pilot, the title was changed to Friends Like Us. NBC president Warren Littlefield also suggested a title for it – Across the Hall. Later, when the shooting started, the title was switched to Six of One, but when the show premiered in September 1994, the title was finally switched to Friends.
