iPad Pro 2 Coming With Improved 264ppi Resolution

Updated on

Some may argue that Apple‘s iPad line has been a little forgotten over the past few year’s. What with the introduction of bigger handsets and Smartwatches the Cupertino-based giant looked to have switched priorities for a while. However, there have been rumors of a 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 doing the rounds for some time now. And a recent report, suggests an increase in pixel density and a reduction in bezel size is likely.

Here’s what you need to know…

iPad Pro 2 Screen Resolution

According to IHS Markit’s Director of Tablets and PCs, Rhoda Alexander the much talked about 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 will have a resolution of 2,224×1,668 pixels. That’s 264ppi, which would mean when on sale the tablet would match the resolution seen on the smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

This would mean that both devices would have comparable displays and both be sharp and easy to read. However, these pixels densities are still behind what many Android-based tablets have. With the 2015 Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 at 283 ppi and Galaxy Tab S 8.4 offering a remarkable 359 ppi.

Smaller Bezels

Moving on to Bezels, Rhoda Alexander, and others believe the 10.5-inch iPad will come with significantly smaller ones than we’ve seen. In fact, if true this move by Apple will enable the device to have the same overall feel and footprint as its sibling. While giving it a much larger screen size, as always, however, this is not official. So, please take this information with a pinch of salt!

Possible Release Date

Over the past few months, we at Valuewalk and others have reported that a March or April announcement could happen. Alexander has backed this belief in her recent report. However, her source remains unknown. So yet again, this is something you should wait for Apple on.

Fortunately, an iPad Pro 2 announcement from Apple will come at some point before a possible iPhone 8 one in September. At which point, we will likely have an increasing array of new devices to talk about. And we’re not just talking about iPad’s, as you know there are plenty of Apple rumors circulating.

However, if you love the iPad, new sizes, colors, and storage options could be available to choose from. All of which iPad users have been relatively starved of over the past few years, and will no doubt welcome.

Final Thoughts

Whether Apple announces the iPad Pro 2 10.5-inch or not, 2017 will be a year of change for its iDevice users. What with the 10th anniversary of the iPhone and the probability of the iPad Mini being discontinued. All you have to do now is sit back and wait, oh and probably keep checking out those salacious rumors.
