The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 6 are two of the most anticipated Samsung phones of 2016. The Korean electronics giant is widely expected to take the wraps off the Galaxy S7 and its dual-edge variant S7 Edge on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month. But supply chain leaks and benchmark appearances have already revealed most of the details ahead of launch.
Galaxy S7 to be available in three variants
Samsung’s Galaxy S line has usually been a precursor to the Galaxy Note line, so the Galaxy S7 could tell a few things about the Note 6. Earlier this month, noted tipster Evan Blass said on Twitter that the Galaxy S7 would be available in three models: the standard S7, S7 Edge, and S7 Edge+. It means the Korean electronics giant is bringing the S7 Edge+ alongside the S7 line, unlike last year when it launched S6 Edge+ alongside the Note 5 in August.

Previously, Samsung would give the Note line a speed boost over the Galaxy S line by offering better processor and more memory. But last year the Korean company decided that its flagship phones will have the same configuration in terms of processor and memory, says Ian Morris of Forbes. Recent leaks suggest that the Galaxy S7 will boast of 4GB RAM, a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, 12-megapixel main camera, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 processor depending on the market.
Samsung may reduce megapixel count in Galaxy Note 6
We can expect the Galaxy Note 6 to come alongside its Edge variant. Morris says the Note 6 Edge will have a dual-edge display. The Note 6 may also feature a microSD card slot because stripping it off the microSD would disappoint users, especially when the S7 will offer expandable storage. Recent rumors suggest that Samsung has figured out how to combine its ultra-fast internal storage with microSD cards.
Another thing is that by reducing the megapixel count in S7, Samsung would signal that it is going to focus more on picture quality than megapixel count. So, the Galaxy Note 6 may have the same or slightly lower megapixel camera compared to the Note 5.
