The BlackBerry 10.3.2 OS update in now available around the world, says a report from OurBerries. BlackBerry 10 handset users can get the new update, which the company is giving out in the form of a 369MB-size file over the air.
Roll-out in phases
The BlackBerry 10 update version BB10.3.3.440 is expected to be released in phases for smooth accessibility to all BB users across the world. Therefore, users should keep a lookout for the latest BlackBerry firmware update to be pushed out to their phones.
The new update offers better camera functionality, allowing users to take shots even in low-light conditions. Additionally, the new feature helps in bringing down the overall blurring effect and incorporates better face detection mechanisms.
The calendar feature, Meeting Mode, has also been tweaked in the new update. The updates give a smarter edge to the phone by automatically activating the silent mode during meetings without a user doing it manually every time. Further, the events saved in the user’s calendar can be added to an ignore list.
Improved BlackBerry Blend and Protect
The new update also enhances the BlackBerry Blend feature with a brand new spell check, a feature to reply to Blend notification pop-ups and visual enhancements to file transfers. Another feature, Hub, has also been enhanced. Hub allows users to reply, interact on social networks, and respond to the messages and emails from the same platform without changing the screen for every application.
Another feature that has been upgraded is BlackBerry Protect, which will let a user disable the device if it has been lost. The purpose is to leave the phone dysfunctional; otherwise it could be wiped and re-used. Additionally, the person who finds the lost BlackBerry will be able to get directions to the owner in case he or she wants to return it to the rightful owner. Also the new feature will enable the owner of a lost or stolen BlackBerry to distantly transmit a signal to the device that will trigger a loud noise in the phone, helping the user to find it.
Though BlackBerry is rolling an update to the OS, there were reports last week that the Canadian firm is planning to release an Android phone. On Friday, BlackBerry shares closed up 0.22% at $9.23, and year to date, the stock is down by over 16%.
