Apple Inc. New Ad Is All About Fitness [VIDEO]

Updated on

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fans have begun to anticipate that the upcoming iPhone 6 will be a smartphone for fitness buffs. Since Apple launched iOS 8 earlier this week, the company has been taking pains to show off the mobile operating system’s fitness features.

Apple’s latest ad

The company recently released an advertisement for the iPhone 5S. The ad shows how people can use the current smartphone for fitness purposes. The ad demonstrates the many ways the phone can be utilized for monitoring activities, and it also shows a wide range of fitness gadgets that can be used with the phone. Unfortunately, the gadgets shown in the ad are not Apple gadgets. That is not to say Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) won’t release a few fitness-related products with the upcoming iPhone 6 later on this year.

Highlighted products in the ad include the Misfit Shine waterproof ring activity tracker, Zepp golf swing analyzer, Wahoo Fitness bike center and Withings scale.

iOS 8’s new health app

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s unveiling of the iOS 8 Health app confirmed rumors of a health-related feature. The app collects the user’s health metrics and blood pressure, then stores it into a digital hub. HealthKit is a cloud platform that accepts data from third-party applications and devices. Nike is one of the first companies to get an early head start on this feature. The renowned Mayo Clinic is also looking into providing health care professionals a way to access and input more patient-related information.

The tech giant’s new venture into the health market may just give Apple a much-needed boost. Although the company’s top competitor Samsung already has a smartwatch with health-related features, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has a chance to become a serious competitor in the health technology market. If the highly-anticpiated iWatch debuts later on this year along with the iPhone 6, a big chunk of the health tech market could be in Apple’s hands.
