Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NOK) Codenames Devices For Bond Characters

Updated on

Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) is making a new set  of Windows Phone 8 handsets, under the direct supervision of its new boss Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). Codenames for some of those devices have been leaked by a Twitter post from @evleaks.

Codenames for Nokia devices

According to a tweet from @evleaks, Nokia devices have been codenamed  “Goldfinger,” “Moneypenny,” “Normandy,” “Phantom” and “Spinel.”

Evleaks is often correct, indicating that this leak may be true too. The names may reflect the features of the phone and their attributes, according to a report from Techradar. Goldfinger and Moneypenny are the names of James Bond characters. Goldfinger had an insatiable appetite for gold, and Moneypenny is a flirtatious secretary.

Moneypenny may be the name of a phone with more of business features or perhaps a new product like a smartwatch, because the tweet noted that Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) is working on ‘products’ rather than Nokia phones. There are slim chances that Goldfinger will be a gilded phone, but the possibility cannot be ignored entirely as Nokia may be thinking of launching a phone inspired by Apple’s champagne color iPhone.

According to Techradar, “Spinel” suggests that the Finnish handset maker may be planning on using other cover materials apart from plastic.  Spinel” is a magnesium-aluminum mineral.

Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)  may be in the process of making metallic phones or it may altogether be wrong information. No one has yet figured out the  ‘Normandy’ and ‘Phantom’ codenames.

Nokia Lumia 1820, 2020 may launch at MWC

Nokia is set to launch Lumia 1820 and an 8 inch Lumia 2020 tablet during Mobile World Congress in February 2014, as suggested by the rumors.

It is possible that Lumia 2020 may come with stylus pen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a 1080p screen. Also, Lumia 2020 is expected to sport higher PPI display compared to Nokia Lumia 2520 along with higher speed compared to 2.2 GHz quad core processor of Lumia 2520.

Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)  Lumia 1820 will supposedly come in a metallic casing and with a Lytro style camera. The Lytro camera enables the user to change the focus of the image after the shot has been clicked. Nokia seems to have shifted its focus away from colored body phones to camera.
