Samsung finally unveiled their rumored Galaxy Gear smartwatch on Wednesday during the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin. This is weeks ahead from the purported unveiling of the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) smartwatch.
Samsung Galaxy Gear Features
This exciting new watch features a 1.63 inch 320 x 320 pixel super AMOLED screen with a metal frame and a 1.9 megapixel camera that is embedded into the rubberized band. The strap also comes in six different color choices. It also features a 800MHz processor and 512MB of RAM. As predicted, this new watch syncs with tablet computers and smartphones. It allows users to check messages or control their music settings without touching their phone.
Galaxy Gear uses the Android operating system, and will feature seventy optimized applications to start with. This new smartwatch will hit stores in October and retail for just $299.
Samsung Also Launched Galaxy Note 3
During the IFA event, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet and Galaxy Note III phablet. Both products are key in the mobile industry and will likely help boost the South Korean company’s profits over the next few quarters. They made a splash by debuting the Galaxy Smartwatch before Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) releases theirs. Next week, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will unveil the long-awaited iPhone 5S and possibly the iPhone 5C. The company is also predicted to unveil their version of the smartwatch later on.
