Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPhone Launch Event: What To Expect

Updated on

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is hosting an event tomorrow to launch the latest smart phone the company has to offer. For the first time Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is going to release two phones at the event, the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. Fans of the company and technology enthusiasts are wondering what they will see from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) at the event.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPhone Launch Event: What To Expect

We take a look at some of the rumors about the event, and assess their likelihood. The event will take place in Apple’s home Cupertino and it will start at 1p.m EST.

iPhone: what to expect

iPhone 5s: The next flagship from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be the iPhone 5s, there’s very little question about that. The device will likely have the same exterior as the iPhone 5, more or less, but the internals will get a boost.

Likelihood: Guaranteed

Fingerprint scanner: The most talked about feature that might be included in the iPhone 5s is the fingerprint scanner. Analysts are sure that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was working on the feature for the iPhone 5s, but nobody is sure whether it made the cut because of cost constraints.

Likelihood: 50/50

Gold iPhone 5s: This is one of the other big changes associated with the iPhone 5s, and it’s one that has been almost confirmed by those in the iPhone rumors business. That group has been wrong in the past, however, and a Gold iPhone doesn’t seem very Apple.

Likelihood: 80%

iPhone 5c: The cheap iPhone may finally arrive at the Cupertino event tomorrow, but tech lovers shouldn’t be sure it will make an appearance tomorrow. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has an iPhone event planned for Wednesday in Beijing. If that C stands for China, it may not be shown off tomorrow.

What to expect after the iPhone

Tomorrow is a big event for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), and the company might use it to talk about more than just the iPhone. Here’s a look at the likely announcements that aren’t the iPhone 5s or the iPhone 5c.

iPad 5: Apple last updated the iPad line on the twelfth of September last year. The company may well update the tablet computer soon, but it is likely that the company will wait for its own event to do so.

Likeihood: 40%

Mac refresh: The last time Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) brought something new to the Macbook line was last year when the company added the MAc Book Pro with Retina display to its line up. The firm doesn’t seem to be planning anything new in this space at the moment, though it will probably bump the Macbook pro line up with newer Intel processors soon. With the recent release of the new Mac Pro and a full Mac redesign last year, it’s unlikely we’ll see Apple computers at this event.

Likelihood: 20%

Smart watch: Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is unlikely to announce a smart watch tomorrow. Samsung just released their smart watch competitor and though some were impressed, it’s not been the big launch that smart watch enthusiasts hoped for. If Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is going to release a smart watch they’ll do it at it’s own event, and they’ll try to blow the world away while they’re at it.

Likelihood:10%

Apple Television: If apple Inc. really is working on an Apple TV, we would have heard something solid about it by now. The Apple rumors community is fantastic, but it dredges up a lot of poor stories now and then. The Apple TV set top box is due for a software or hardware change, and that could come tomorrow.
