(NASDAQ:AAPL) took more from BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB). Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) also took more feature phone buyers (about 37%) than Apple (about 26%).

Fortunately for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), their customers are not afraid to upgrade their iPhone. This survey shows us 42% of iPhone users traded up their phones for a newer model. Another notable finding: 43% of Samsung customers previously owned an Android phone from another brand.

Apple still takes the lead with the iPhone

This survey reached 500 smartphone buyers who bought their phone within the last 90 days. This survey was conducted  from June 2012 to July 2013. The results are not really all that surprising as it shows that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) still takes the lead with the iPhone and that’s highly unlikely to change any time soon.

Even with all the recent concern over Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s standing in the market, it’s surveys like this that remind us that the iPhone isn’t going anywhere. Right now, there is a lot of anticipation surrounding the upcoming iPhone 5S and even more anticipation for next year’s iPhone 6. Although the former isn’t expected to be much of an upgrade from the current model, it should still hold enough interest until the Cupertino-based giant unveils the iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 is still a mystery in terms of design and features but there have been numerous concept designs for the smartphone. Only time will reveal what both phones have for us.
